I recently attended the Reeves Import Motorcars, Taste of Fuel Efficiency event in Tampa, which was very cool! Their goal was to have people experience their cars that are safe and fuel efficient, while enjoying some delicious stops along the way. I was excited to test drive the various cars Reeves offers, to and from different locations, where we would “refuel”. It was the perfect event to celebrate national fuel efficiency month in May and to welcome national safety month which is June.
For those that don’t know, the Reeves brand is quite impressive, with cars like Porsche, Range Rover, Audi, BMW, Subaru and more under its’ umbrella. As a minivan mom (no offense to other minivan drivers), I knew I wanted to trade in my mom-mobile for an afternoon and hit the road in style. We all met at our first destination, SideBerns, one of Tampa’s best restaurants and also one of my personal favorites! We were greeted with a warm welcome, a delicious snack to fuel up with, and were introduced to our first ride.
I got assigned the Subaru, which I have to admit, was a bit disappointing at first, since I was hoping for one of the more high end cars. The Porsche was calling my name but the Subaru won the battle. Well… let me just tell you I should not have judged this book by it’s cover. The 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek was extremely comfortable and I really enjoyed driving it. I was accompanied by a Subaru salesman who was extremely knowledgeable about the car. Before I knew it, we had arrived at Starbucks where we received gift cards, refueled with coffee and treats, and were able to take some time to look at all the cars, ask questions, and chat with fellow bloggers and acquaintances.
As we headed out to our final destination, I had my eye on the 2013 Land Rover Evoque, which has a sleek, mysterious look to it. The Range Rover representative and I hopped into the car, I acquainted myself with this beauty, and I was ready to roll. It was a lot of fun taking a highway to our next stop so I could test out the horsepower and umph of this vehicle. It did not disappoint and was quite powerful. Still, I have to say, the Subaru was still my favorite so far. We arrived at Timpano Italian Chophouse, a delicious restaurant in Tampa, and was invited to a lovely sit down lunch on behalf of Reeves. It was so nice to chat with the Reeves staff, along with fellow bloggers and folks that attended, and learn more about everyone.
After a delicious and fun lunch, I was assigned my third and final car to head back to our starting point. I would be reunited with my mom-mobile littered with old crackers and string cheese, random socks, and the smell of old coffee mixed with baby wipes. Sound familiar Moms? I hopped in the 2013 Audi A6, which was beautiful, inside and out. I felt like I floated back to SideBerns and could have driven it straight home. No one would have noticed, right? I think the Audi won first place in my book, followed by the Subaru, and then the Land Rover. Surprising but true. When I pulled into the parking lot, there she was…my minivan waiting for me. She had a nervous look on her face as if I had replaced her. I reassured my shiny girl that my adventure was over and we were now reunited. It was fun while it lasted! Each of us were provided with a swag bag full of goodies (as if Reeves hadn’t already given us enough) and said our goodbyes.
It was so generous of Reeves to provide us with such a wonderful day and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate. I truly had a blast and enjoyed test driving and learning about all of the different cars, meeting the Reeves staff, making new contacts and friends, and reuniting with old ones. I learned a ton about these cars, met great people who are passionate about what they do, and hope to work with Reeves again in the near future. If you are in the market for a new car, Reeves will take great care of you! Tell them The Mommy Master® sent you!
