It’s That Time Again: Get a Haircut and Give Back

I am excited to share that once again, the Share-A-Haircut initiative from Hair Cuttery is back!  To remind you, this important initiative is aimed at supporting homeless people in need in your local community.  The goal of Hair Cuttery is to be able to reach 25,000 veterans through the February campaign.

The largest family-owned and operated chain of hair salons in the country began the Share-A-Haircut initiative in 1999 and has donated more than 1.26 million free haircut certificates valued at nearly $25.2 million.  WOW!!!

Founder and CEO of Hair Cuttery Dennis Ratner,  says, “Our February program for the homeless is very special for our stylists and the entire Hair Cuttery family.  It’s incredibly powerful to see how one haircut can make an impactful difference in the lives of those less fortunate. It is truly heartwarming to be able to give such joy and confidence.”

As a mom, I am always trying to find ways to give back as a family and this is the perfect example.  Not only can we all get quality haircuts at reasonable prices, but the Share-A-Haircut initiative helps to start conversations with our children about the concept of giving back.  It’s too often we hear “I want, I need, give me, get me…” and to be able to teach our children that life is not always all about them and to shift their focus to others and their needs, is invaluable.

Here’s how it works:

For every haircut purchased on Feb. 1-2, a free haircut certificate will be donated back to a homeless person in the community of one of Hair Cuttery’s nearly 900 salons. To distribute the certificates to those in need, Hair Cuttery is partnering with local shelters and community organizations.
Hair Cuttery has an established history of charitable giving, supporting a range of local and national causes, including St. Baldrick’s Foundation, American Red Cross, The National Network to End Domestic Violence, American Cancer Society and Girls on the Run.

I encourage all of you to visit your local Hair Cuttery on Monday, February 1st and Tuesday, February 2nd to get a haircut and give back.  The holidays may have come and gone but the spirit of giving should be a year long focus for us all.
